Dr. Marion A. Bolden Student Center
The Dr. Marion A. Bolden Student Center, located at 230 Broadway was opened in May of 2008 amid much fanfare and excitement. The innovative vision of former Newark Public Schools superintendent, Dr. Bolden, this unique facility is the new home of the Mic It Up Teen Supper Club and is for the exclusive use of high school students to gain additional academic support, career related training, as well as access to space for study, research, and student leadership group meetings. Through utilization of on-site studios and participation in workshops, mini-camps, and a variety of other activities students will have extraordinary and valuable learning opportunities that will translate to actual job-related experiences, better classroom performance, and improved test scores. Though the schedule of activities and initiatives changes frequently to continuously expose students to a variety of options, some recent activities include: radio broadcasting and communications, Hip Hop sound production, poetry writing, drama, martial arts, Yoga, and a teen talk show.

Television Studio
Our students have the opportunity to learn all aspects of television broadcasting including planning, developing, recording, video editing, live interviews, and on-screen experience. Students have opportunities to design their own shows to broadcast on cable television as well as produce some shows that are long time favorites such as Focus On Education and the Homework Hotline.
Recording Studio
A professional level studio, with control room and isolation booth, contains industry standard equipment that provides students with the opportunity to learn music production.

Media Center & Web-based Research
The perfect place to study, do research via internet and other library resources. Visiting students can use the two computer kiosks with up to twelve computers available, the open table seating, private study cubicles, or one of the many comfortable lounge chairs. A media specialist is on-hand to assist students.
Student Publications and Graphic Arts Practice
Student Publications Center – perfect for student-led projects that support and encourage students to write, edit, use graphic arts, produce newsletters, and student magazines.
